Issues

Eric has been listening on the door steps of Ward 8.  A Successful Saskatoon starts with its residents.
Here are just some of the issues Eric is talking about in Ward 8:

Roads -- More resources need to be directed to roadways with not enough attention being paid to their upkeep or their improvement in the past.  The time has come to make a significant investment.  For businesses to be successful in Saskatoon proper infrastructure needs to be maintained. Eric will ensure that resources are allocated to this issue to continue with the business-friendly philosophy Eric is committed to.

Seniors Property Tax Deferral Program -- City council and the administration made good strides bringing this to fruition in 2012. Eric would advocate to drop the income requirement of the program.  Cutting red tape and supporting citizens 65 and over to stay in their homes longer just makes sense with an aging population.

Alleyways -- Eric has heard loud and clear what the residents in Ward 8 with back alleys want. They want City Hall to sharpen their pencils and budget more dollars to make them a priority. Eric will make it his priority!

Taxes -- Residents of Ward 8 have spoken.  They have said that they need value for their tax dollars.  Eric will work to ensure that all departments are lean and agile to deal with the growth Saskatoon is experiencing.

Holmwood Neighborhood Plan -- Eric, in his role as President of the East College Park Community Association, helped facilitate resident input with the City Planner every step of the way.  Eric wants to continue to be a part of a strong plan to facilitate transportation, parks and schooling with all of Ward 8 residents’ concerns front and center.

As President of the East College Park Community Association, I was honoured to present Don Atchison and the city with their portion of the cost for the lights in Sid Buckwold Park. The Community Association was able to raise almost $33,000 to 'Light Ip the Park' . 12 additional lights were installed this September 29th, to enhance the park's usability and safety. A Gala Celebration of our accomplishment will be planned soon!
